Behavior Modification Session- Virtual
Work through helping your pet with behavior issues using positive reinforcement/ fear free methods
Service Description
Offered for pets after a free 15 min initial consultation. This virtual session platform focuses on helping you understand and help your pets overcome behavior issues and obstacles, to help them become happy, well-adjusted pets. Examples of issues we can work through virtually are separation anxiety, reactivity (door rushing, barking, lunging), new pet integration, crate training, boredom issues, changes to routines, potty training and inappropriate urination, and creating a stress free environment (which is especially important for cats). This is just a few examples, contact me for a free consult to see if a virtual modification session is right for you and your pet. During our initial consultation I will ask questions to get a good understanding of the issues your pet is experiencing. I don't book behavior modification sessions unless I know I can help you and your pet. If I feel I can help, we can book a single session or a package of 4, and I will send a behavior modification plan that we will work on in our sessions. My expertise in behavior modification has developed over many year. While at UC Davis, I specialized in animal behavior while earning a Wildlife Biology degree. I studied under Dr. Sophia Yin, who was one of the best and only veterinarians who focused on animal behavior and training. With her guidance, I learned the power of positive reinforcement based behavior modification, and the damage that can come from using punishment in animals. I went on to become an elephant, giraffe and rhino trainer at the Little Rock Zoo, and then worked as a zookeeper at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park for 14 years. During that time I worked with and trained gorillas, bonobos, pigs, meerkats, and lemurs to name a few! I eventually settled into the nursery where I bottle raised thousands of orphaned mammals. I also became a registered veterinary technician, as well as earing a nutrition degree. All of this experience gives me a vast understanding and perspective on animal behavior on so many levels. I am able to determine if a behavior may have root in a medical, physiological, developmental, nutritional, or psychological issue, and if the behavior can be corrected by nutritional or veterinary intervention, or through traditional behavior modification
